Please disregard what hotwings posted, its apparent he must be thinking of something else. Do what the first guy told you. No it doesn't come with it, only MPEG-1, thats how they make their money. Simple enough huh? The Nero codec is required if you want Nero to do the encoding for you to the relevant standard. In general I would advise against this as the quality of output from it encoder is far from the best. Try TmpGenc or maybe mainconcept free trial versions available along with help from the numerous guides on this site.

You need to author the DVD. There are several authoring programs out there. It's freeware. Note that burning with nero can be tricky. Some folks want to take a simple question and turn it in to a confusing mess for a person who just wants to burn an MPEG-2 file to DVD.

No you don't need to take all the steps listed, thtas the long route. Not everyone spends their whole day in front of a computer. Some people come to this site and just want a quick solution to their problem. If you don't know or do not use the simple approach I would suggest stop complicating peoples lives. I've seen so many people get frustrated because 10 different people try to tell someone 10 different ways how to author a DVD. Let's face it.

Don't automatically assume that the person you are communicating with knows as much as you. I've seen it over and over on this site. What I suggested was pretty barebones stuff. Ulead and tmpgenc author are as simple as it comes in that they accept the mpeg2 file without the user having to split it into two elementary streams. However, see GOP Structure. It is possible to set properties while the filter graph is running. There is a delay of at least one GOP before the new settings take effect.

If needed, the encoder rounds up the input video dimensions so that the output video dimensions match the MPEG requirements. For progressive video, the output dimensions are rounded up to a multiple of 16 in both width and height. For interlaced video, width is rounded up to a multiple of 16, and height is rounded up to a multiple of This round-up operation uses padding as needed. If the video is interlaced, the encoder performs automatic telecine pull-down detection.

The input video can contain field picture pairs, in addition to interlaced frames. This causes the encoder to optimize for speed.
