Windows xp sp2 ce no activation

Question: again, in the same vein as some other posters, but on the license sticker, does it describe what SP level of XP was installed? No SP? My suspicion is that you didn't install with actual Dell media at all.

During the activation process, you should be given the option to activate by phone. Go ahead and call the number, and the people at the MS Activation Center should be able to help you out. I've had to do this a few times when weird things happened on an activation, and it's usually relatively painless. This is correct but they could not help me out?? They said that they don't support this product anymore. Tried to go to the activiate by telephone but it will not give me a Unique ID or activation ID, the only thing that is there is the place holders where you enter the activation key?

I am not sure what to do!!!! It's supposed to be supported for a couple more months, but yes- support's pretty much dead for XP. China's trying to get support extended, but seriously I'm on the fence for that one. I think there's too many exploitable problems that can be thrown at XP to really bother with it- windows 7 would probably be your next best bet, but support for that isn't going to last forever either GoodwinTek is an IT service provider.

Even though this probably wont work, you can try a system restore. After backing up any critical information and manually creating a restore point of your machine how it sits right now. Let's backup the truck for a minute. If you have the Dell install media for that computer, just do a repair install of Windows or a completely fresh install.

I do not know why you got the message about the copy not being activated We have hundreds of Dell pcs, and you just don't get prompted for activation with their install media Your Windows XP version does not match the key on the sticker.

Either use the CD that matches the key, or the key that matches the installed CD. Or call the activation line and fight with the nice people overseas There isn't any reason to go nuts on activation or any of that fun stuff. And it's something you should have done in the first place. If it's a new install, don't leave the crap from others on there. I had this same problem before I was on phone for awhile with microsoft.

I had to reinstall the OS. Problem 2 - Best bet is going to be what has already been suggested - wipe it and reinstall using the original media.
